April 17 update - cottage - samba party and general news

We had our First Annual Samba Nova Dance Party last Saturday. It was exactly six months after Matthieu’s death and I am sure he would have loved the fact the band is still playing and honours him through our collective memory and our dedication to each other. The evening was a success I think, with around 120 paying attendees. There was a hardcore group still dancing late into the night which was a lot of fun! I think the future looks good.
The weather continues to be stinky. It’s raining like crazy, and we just got through a snowfall and there’s a severe wind and rain warning, etc. It shows no sign of ending until the weekend at least, so no cottage building. I spoke with Gary Stewart who will do the earth work and he’s ready to go. The windows and doors are ordered and the trusses are being made.
Ron Frail my electrician installed a temporary service which has been instepected by Nova Scotia Power and now apparently they will deal with him directly to have the two poles installed and the service connected, althouth they indicate they need dry roads before they will send the trucks in. That’s good as we don’t want the road chewed up.
I will be selling the Shaggin Wagon for Ward (hopefully). Sitting in the woods probably isn’t a great spot for it, and it seems there are plenty of folks on the hunt for just such a unit so the plan is to make a quick deal and have the buyer take arrive at the property to trailer it away
Carolyn continues tgo be extremely busy with the Peaceful Schools International / CDPeace project on schools twinning with Sierra Leone. It has the potential to be a big project with all sorts of support from various agencies. I hope it all goes smoothly. It’s a very worthwhile operation.
That’s it for now! Cheers,
John
