Messed up my Wordpress blog setup
March 15th, 2007 at 8:25 am (general posts)
Stupid me! This site was loading so very slowly that I tried clicking things - oh oh!
I clicked things like “Restore Database” and poked around in administrative functions related to “mySQL”… Now before I make myself look completely inept, note that I also installed a database backup utility and ran that before said clicking, and I also copied the whole WP directory over to a local drive by ftp. See, I’ve screwed up enough things in the past to more or less expect disaster and to be able to restore things in the event my project goes off the rails. This also applies to carpentry, motor vehicle repairs and a few other things I am an expert at screwing up.
The prolem is, even with all this planning and repair work, there’s a weird issue where even though all of the links above should be in the format http://jvangurp.com/wp/page.html, the /wp/ is missing, so they just don’t work. At some point I will figure this out and repair it.
Update March 15 - Fixed by Jadz - Thanks!
