Drumfest 2006 is over… wow

Well it’s over… what an event!

Drumfest 2006
Drumfest was a tribute to Matthieu this year, at the request of Jonathan Keijser, who produced the audio/video side of it.

From Drumfest 2006…

Matt had done quite a bit of the organization but of course we were all still reeling while we decided the show must take place. Mark Adam at Acadia University organized the lineup and took care of performer communications and quite a bit else. A few of the rest of us took on many roles and there was an army of other volunteers.

My job started two week before the event with the editing and printing of posters and flyers and tickets. We numbered all 1000 tickets with an antique-ish stamper machine that advances the number with each impression. Here’s one of the small flyers.
There was a lot of communication and liason with St. Matthew’s Church, who were frantastic to deal with. Money flowed in and out of personal accounts and deals were struck and equipment rented and moved around.

On Friday the 3rd my day started at 8am with Jonathan and crew and Wilma and a could others, Chris Cookson, Jeff Scrutton, Scott Trivers et al. By 1:30am we had most of the a/v stuff set in place and all the audio working. The video was another story and wasn’t working properly until 30 minutes before the show began on Saturday.

Show day, Saturday the 4th also started at 8am and yowza what a busy day! The gear we set up and items we organized was incredible. There was a LOT of running around for cables and connectors. The performers started to arrive around noon and go through rehearsals while we were waiting nervously for the last stage risers. Thanks Colin!

The show itself was amazing! The house was full and the show went off without a hitch.
